The Center for Advanced Philippines Studies (CAPS) believes in the pursuit of new knowledge in addressing present challenges. In developing countries like the Philippines, poverty, waste management, and sanitation are some of the most pressing problems. 

CAPS is engaged in innovative urban environmental management researches and projects most especially in the field integrated sustainable waste management (ISWM) and sustainable sanitation in relation to poverty alleviation.
