CAPS, AFI & XU Hosted 1st International Lecture Series on SuSan

The Center for Advanced Philippine Studies (CAPS), in cooperation withAyala Foundation and the School of Medicine, Xavier University recentlyconducted the 1^st International Lecture Series on SustainableSanitation. The event took place at the Reading Room of the Filipinas HeritageLibrary in Makati City on 12 April 2010. A total of 57 individuals from theprivate sector, NGO community, national government agencies (NGAs), LGU,donor/funding institutions and the academe participated in the said event.

Highlights of the half-day event includes presentations by Dr. RalfOtterpohl of the Institute of Wastewater Management and WaterProtection at TUHH Hamburg University of Technology, Germanyon “Waste Water reuse inBuildings” and by Dr. Jurgen Reckin, who is an expert in bio-diversity on “NewInsights in matters of Plant Nutrition, Soil Microbes and their role inRecycling of Human Excretas and regenerating Soil Fertility”. Thepresentations were followed by a reaction from a panel composed ofrepresentatives from two major companies engaged in water distribution andhousing developments and a representative from the Water & SanitationProgram of the World Bank (WSP-WB).
